SMA Warns Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms Continue Across Seychelles

Temporary reduction expected from tomorrow morning, but public urged to remain vigilant and prepare for further prolonged rainfall.

The Seychelles Meteorological Authority (SMA) advises the public that the current weather conditions, characterised by heavy rainfall and thunderstorm activity, will continue to affect the country. However, a gradual reduction in activity is expected from tomorrow morning.

While this temporary reduction should bring some relief, SMA is urging the population to use this period to prepare and take the necessary precautionary measures, as the country is only at the beginning of what is expected to be a long rainy season.

Periods of prolonged or intense rainfall can increase the risk of localised flooding, landslides and water accumulation in low-lying and vulnerable areas. Communities are therefore encouraged to remain vigilant and continue taking practical steps to reduce their exposure to weather-related risks.
