SEYCHELLES METEOROLOGICAL AUTHORITY URGES CONTINUED PREPAREDNESS AS HEAVY RAIN AND STRONG WINDS PERSIST
The Seychelles Meteorological Authority (SMA) advises the public that current severe weather conditions, characterised by heavy rainfall and strong winds align with forecasts issued since May regarding the ongoing El Niño event.
While recent rainfall provides much-needed relief following a prolonged dry spell, SMA cautions that significant rainfall will continue over the coming months. Prolonged downpours increase the risk of localised flooding, landslides, and water accumulation in low-lying areas.
